Part time, Fixed Term between 1 August -30 June 2019.
Fixed term for a minimum of 6 months with the possibility of an 11 month contract.

A unique opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and passionate law clerk to join YouthLaw Aotearoa, a community law centre for children and young people under 25.  The position provides support to our legal team with the 0800 advice line which operates nationwide between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday. The hours will be a minimum of 10 hours per week and your ability to commit to regular shifts for a fixed period of up to 11 months will be a significant advantage.

In order to apply, you must have completed at least Part 2 of a law degree.

You must have great interpersonal skills, be able to relate to children and young people, have strong research and drafting skills, computer and phone literacy, administrative efficiency and accuracy and the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people. The position primarily involves dealing with enquiries on YouthLaw’s Legal Advice Line and providing support to the legal team. There may also be some resource drafting work in some of the hours.

The successful candidate must not have disclosable criminal convictions or pending criminal charges which would be contrary to our values or purpose and must be willing to undergo a police check as a condition of employment. The successful candidate must also have the right to work in NZ.
